Pukka

Pukka

When I first heard of F-rated films it immediately sparked a light in my head. It's a stroke of revolutionary insight that immediately makes you think differently. And why are Pukka involved? As well as creating some hopefully majestic herbal experiences, Pukka exists to help balance two of our worlds biggest challenges: environmental sustainability and social equality. We do this through our organic farming and fairtrade culture that brings communities together and legally requires the equality of men and women in pay, status and rights.

The idea of an F-rating really touches a chord by highlighting the gender inequality at the heart of our entertainment industry, forcing us to recognise our unwitting support of such bias. It really makes you think about the world we live in when you realise how few films can achieve this rating. Understanding the implication of the F-Rating makes us realise that all our choices, even the tea we drink or the movies we watch, can be a force for positive change.

The films selected for the Lux Film Prize competition help to air different views on some of the main social and political issues of the day and, as such, contribute to building a stronger European identity. They help celebrate the universal reach of European values, illustrate the diversity of European traditions and shed light on the process of European integration.
