The idea behind the IMDb Script to Screen Award is simple: anyone can submit a script for a short film with a running time of 10 minutes or under.
Five scripts are shortlisted and performed in June by Bath Spa’s drama students in front of our industry judges and a live audience. Both the judges and the audience vote for the best script and the winner receives £7,000 cash and £1,000 worth of hire kit from Visual Impact (UK filmmakers only) to turn their script into a film. Plus, the winner receives a coveted IMDb Enamel Badge and a prestigious award.
The IMDb Script to Screen Award final is a wonderful evening with prestigious judges who in previous years have included:
Col Needham – CEO of IMDb – always!
Sarah Gavron – director, Rocks, Suffragette, Brick Lane etc
Gaby Chiappe – screenwriter, Their Finest, Holby City, Eastenders etc
Kate Leys – script editor, American Animals, Churchill, Pin Cushion etc
Ashley Pharoah – writer, The Living & The Dead, Ashes to Ashes, Life on Mars etc
Olivia Hetreed – writer, Girl With The Pearl Earrings, Wuthering Heights etc
John Hodge – screenwriter, Trainspotting, Shallow Grave
