Bath Film Festival Community Cinema

Bath Film Festival has always been committed to community cinema: Festival Founder, Chris Baker has probably set up more screenings in town halls round Bath than he has had hot dinners!

In 2012 we received funding from Bath & North East Somerset Council and Creative England to screen films in Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Paulton, Camerton and Peasedown St John. The aim of these screenings is to take the big screen cinema experience to towns and villages who have no local access to a cinema (Bath is the only place in B&NES which has cinemas!).

Midsomer Norton, has been the most successful of our locations (mainly due to the enthusiasm and hard work of Councillor and Mayor Paul Myers and his band of volunteers).  They have renamed the Town Hall The Palladium (see here for more info) and we have screened loads of great films there, from Anna Karenina to Skyfall, as well as family-friendly films such as Brave and Madagascar 3.  The Palladium has now sourced its own funding and they will be running community cinema screenings by themselves (with just a little bit of help from Chris!).

In Box, Panache Pictures are a pop-up rural cinema who hold screenings on the first Friday of every month in the Selwyn Hall. There is also a monthly Saturday matinee screening for families.

Chris also facilitates screenings at Keynsham Music Festival, Winsley Village Hall, Priston Village Hall and Little Witley Film Society.

We have just heard that we have received funding from B&NES and Film Hub SWWM for more Community Cinema screenings in 2014. These will be at:

Victoria Hall, Radstock

Salisbury Club, London Road

Junior School, Twerton

Outdoor Screening at City Farm, Bath
