Come and join this wonderful event with us. For anyone remotely interested in film making, this is always a fascinating, insightful and enjoyable evening.

The first part of the evening is a conversation with our eminent judges, about their careers. This year we are thrilled to welcome:

Otto Bathurst is a film and television director who has created many award-winning shows like CRIMINAL JUSTICE, BLACK MIRROR and PEAKY BLINDERS and has recently wrapped on a $100M, visceral re-boot of ROBIN HOOD, for Lionsgate Studios. He is also the South West representative of Directors UK, a member of BAFTA, and The Directors Guild of America, as well as being a father of three and a resident in Bath for five years.

Kate Leys is a script & story editor who works mainly in feature films.  She has also worked as an agent, run a rep cinema and a film festival, had her own BBC2 show on film, and been an usherette.  She is chair of the Wellcome Screenwriting Fellowship and has been head of development at several companies including Film4.

Alice Birch is a screenwriter and playwright, Alice has won multiple awards for her screenplay, Lady MacBeth which we screened at the film festival in 2016 and is currently writing a new series for HBO.

Col Needham is “one of the most successful men in the history of internet start-ups – as well as in the film industry” (The Independent). Col is the CEO of IMDb and without him there would be no IMDb Awards.

Then we will hear a rehearsed read-through of the five scripts selected from all of our submissions, and then, the moment of truth: the winner will be awarded £5,000 CASH plus £1,000 worth of hire kit to make their film over the summer.
